Hi Will, one thing you can do right now is select those edges and use Edit/Hide to turn them off.
They will turn back on if you do any more editing to the object, but that may be helpful if you just want to check things out for a moment and those edges are bothering you.
In version 2 I want to add a variety of display options, including some quick options for suppressing all edges, at that time I'll try to also add an option to only suppress the display of seam edges.
