Here is an initial attempt, based upon the Basketball script.
The afactor is 100
The radius is 12
The point number is 2000.
Still need to form surfaces, somehow.
Then twist and or shear or flow?

@ Frenchy Pilou: Thank you for the link and the other proposal. I will try it all tomorrow.

@ bemfarmer: It would be nice, if you could show me a result of the finished mould and perhaps more informations how to do it.

Thanks
Rudl

After a lot of practice, here is the latest attempt, using a U shape, kind of like Pilou's.

Utilzed Flow to UnWrap/UnBend a 3d U shape. Flow will also Wrap/Bend the Plane shape back into the U.
Also used UnwrapCurve to get some lengths.

Used Blend with the edge of small cylinder and blue ring edge, to get "funnel" shape, from the planar stretched oval. Then used Flow to Bend it back
into the U shape, with the two smaller circles touching.

Next, I want to try to do a similar process with the Baseball curve.

Here is the UnwrapCurve of the BasketBall curve, using Flow, and also UnwrapCurve to get the base length(s).
Also a ReWrap of the Curve, using Flow.
There is a small change in the length of the curve, upon unwrap.
Upon rewrap, relocating the center may have resulted in a slight size variation. (The radius is still 6 inches, +/-.)
The Sphere seems to be a little bit off from the curve, perhaps due to having used Rebuild.

(Have failure to upload...) Ran out of room. Deleted a dozen old files.

Hi Rudl,

> Perhaps someone could give me a advice, may be Torolf höchstpersönlich.

(nee, glaube ich nicht... ;-)) i doubt that Torolf gives any advise any longer, because he helped in the past lost's of people and figured out later that his design ideas were often badly copied and then sold as 3D prints, for example. I can fully understand this and would also get angry when this would happen to me. Especially since those little math sculptures could make it as good jewelry designs...

Regards
Stefan

No problem, as I know torolf, I haven´t expected another answer from his disciple and also from himself.

Starting from the basketball script, which plots the the intersection of a sphere and a hyperbolic paraboloid, used Flow to
unwrap the curve, blend to two circles, and re-Flow to wrap around a sphere again, as described in previous post.

After a bit of work, here is a Genus2 Basketball.

In the re-Flow process, the circles became elliptical-ish. Should have used an ellipse, instead of a circle, for the blend.

Also added a final 45 degree twist.
