Here's another interesting result. This is a one-rail sweep, with a nearby straight line set as the scaling rail.

Each cross-section of this shape is a different sized circle, but they are scaled in such a way to produce a straight line along that one side.

When you use a one-rail sweep with a scaling curve, the "Maintain height" checkbox will appear, which lets you control whether the scaling is a stretch in one direction (in the middle here) or a uniform scaling.

This is some great stuff! Exactly what I was wishing for while making my most recent model. I'm really looking forward to the next beta...

Thx for these extra precisions !
Seems the "scaling curve" is the dead of the classic way of the sweep :)

Wow!
Hi Micheal, i found MOI a few day ago and i must say it's absolutly awesome!!
When i think how fast it is possible to model complex objects, i can't imagine that.
right now i try to use MOI for some complex objects. The Boole-function is great!
Absolutly perfect mesh. No bugs in the mesh. Dreamy! The Fillet-function.
Ever wanted to have something like this.
This is a scrennshot from my first serious try.

I need it for things like this:

(not done with moi, done with Cinema and renderd with FinalRender2)

And i think in the future i will need it for nearly everything. :-)
Do you know what we'll have to pay for it when it's ready?

Janne

Found MOI, LOVE MOI, will buy MOI

Hi Janne, that's a fantastic result from your first serious try!

Those are also some great renderings and models that you've done in Cinema4D - so much detail! It looks like MoI should be useful for modeling a lot of those pieces.

The high quality n-gon mesh export should make MoI a nice companion to Cinema...

Did you notice that you can do a boolean operation between a solid and a planar curve? I mean for instance if you want to boolean away a circular hole all the way through the object you can just do the boolean using the circle instead of needing to extrude to a cylinder. You'll still need to extrude for cuts that do not go all the way through the object, but for ones going all the way through that can save some time.

> Do you know what we'll have to pay for it when it's ready?

It will be around US $200.

I'm glad that you like MoI!

I agree, those are some seriously impressive results both on the modeling and rendering for your first as you said "serious" try with Moi. This is real nice! :)

Please keep on posting more.

This one looks good too! I love seeing the results of just a short period of time spent.

Oh, thanks, nice to hear.
But, did you noticed that the clocks-renderings are not made with Moi?

:-))
Don't panik. I've done most parts with Splines. Only the watchcase is polymodelled.

And here ist a few more clockwork. Here i used completly MOI. Love it. It is so easy to use. And fast!!
Now i think i'am "King Booly" :-)))

[Edit]

Ok, here is a little Rendering with FinalRender.

This is the viewing in the later coming onlineshop.
There you can configurate your own watch. Hands, belt and so on. Then you get a 360°-turnaround with 8 single frames.
(ok the background will be another.)

Hi michael,
it would be nice to have some kind of scene tree, or a HUD indicator, that would show which objects are history dependant, and which would allow to select the 'parent' curves for it.
