I use Carrara 5 for almost all of my MoI objects. To UV an area for a logo for instance just go to the vertex modeler room and select the ploys you want to label and assign them a shading domain. Then open the UV tools and map just the shading domain you just made. Now go to the shader and use a complex layer shader instead of a multi-channel, add a basic layer assign it to the shading domain you want and import your UV map to the color channel.
