Take an image PNG 256 colors et voilà! :partying_face: (here 20 matrices 126 * 126 * 126 so a very big one)
All the process is something like 15 seconds on a seven year old machine !
I don't want imagine with an up to date computer! ;)

Some of you might be looking for a good vector graphics
program for illustrations.

I can highly recommend, to take a look at "VectorStyler" (Mac/PC).
No subscription, one time fee 95.- USD / 84.- Euro.

I know and have seen a lot of vector programs. "VectorStyler" is one
of the most feature rich vector program I have seen in a long time.
It seems to me that the Devs have developed this program along the
lines of " you wish, we deliver ".

Here are some highlights:
Has a shapebuilder tool, blends objects even lines with gradients
( the line and gradients are also blended ), Align objects on a path,
mesh gradients, deform objects with a mesh , Symbols and the List
goes on and on ....
( it comes even with a build in Vector Tracer! )

There is a demo that works for 42 days.
( Maybe a reference to Douglas Adams " Hitchhikers Guide to ... ??? :) )

I have Affinity Designer on PC and Ipad and like it very much.
But if you read the Wishlist in the Affinity Forum, even smaller
wishes are pretty old and still only Wishes.

On the one hand VectorStyler fulfills these wishes and offers
a lot more and for that I find 95.- USD / 84.- Euro a bargain from my point of view.

I can just recommend to download the Demo and have a look at VectorStyler.

Btw I still use Creature House Expression (also kind of Vector/Bitmap Mix)
it is installed on my PC, works well with Win 10. I like the Brushes.

Yes, have the free Version "Expression 3.3" but no
Link where you could download it. Seems no more
avaible.

Alternative could be the also free Microsoft Epression Design 4.
Works on Win 10, it even have more Brushes. Very cool ones.

To create a brush stroke from an image, you need a bitmap image.
Open the image you want to use for the brush stroke in your document.
Select the Selection tool in the Tool palette (or press V).
Select the image, point to Stroke on the Object menu, and then click Define Image Stroke.
The Define Image Stroke dialog box opens.

yes, you must set the Fill to this
Fill is the left one, Stroke the right.

The vector brushes also have a lot to offer.
Use one as a brush stroke (left) and make the stroke size very large (right).
