SF Weapon - Shotgun

I wasnt able to use MoI since a while, so it's allways refreshing when I can play with it on some project.
So here's a shotgun (sort of). I did the boxing modeling in modo first to check out the scale/concept on a game character.

I have to 'compete' with some other zbrush artist co-workers, so it was funny to see their positive reaction. They still
seems to find nurbs modeling too technical :S

Anyway here's some images :

Hi PaQ,

Nice model. Very sharp.

I love to use software that are not know to everyone and can get reaction like yours.

Nurbs is not too technical, they have to try it :)

Very good render.

Hi PaQ, i just saw your gallery and i really like a lot of those images and i have a question: in the SocT – Alley project, how did you modeled and textured all that stones so well?

Is it just displacement??

Hi ed,

Thanks for the kind words.

Well actually the rocks are full geometry, to speed up rendertime (displacement is still a little bit expensive in vray).
Here's a sample of some rocks (modeled in zbrush, then normal baked on some low res geometry).

This part was less funny, I didn't expected it would be so complicated to create a good lowres for normal map baking.
But after tons of try and error, I finally get my workflow ready (well I hope).

MoI is really great for this kind of game modeling. Something really cool is to able to export a very draft version from MoI.
The mesh was really usefull to see where place vertices to get the best curve approximation when buidling the low res cage in Modo.

Hi! That's really cool to see that you made a nice low res model from it!
