problems with 3DM to DXF converter?

I'm not sure if this is the problem, but I did draw the pieces shown approx. *6,000 light years* from the origin point. LOL
That might have confused a lesser program such as AutoCAD. =P

I've moved everything to the origin point and redid the conversion. Let's see what they say.

Perhaps an "option" for future versions of the 3DM to DXF converter would be to "move all objects to origin point"?

Hi Chris, do you know what program they are actually loading it into?

It could be possible that program does not know how to read spline curve entities from a DXF file, which is the kind of object that the 3DM to DXF converter puts into the DXF files that it generates.

If that's the case then you may need to use some other method to generate the DXF file that will convert it into a polyline. I've attached here the result of saving your DXF files from Rhino with the option enabled to save curves as dense polylines, that could work better for them.

Hi Michael. Since I am now a Beta Tester for Rhino OSX, I used that for the conversion. Worked like a charm! I just choose "R12, lines and arcs" as my export option.

I noted that export from Rhino OSX for use in Moi must be as a Rhino v4 3DM file, as a version 5 file comes up blank in Moi.

Cheers,

Chris

Yeah the same thing happens if you try to open up a Rhino v5 file in Rhino v4 as well.

For Rhino v5 they've changed the file format so that the objects stored in it are not automatically directly readable by older versions of the reading code. I'm not sure exactly why they did this, you would have to ask them.

In MoI version 3 I'll be updating to a newer version of the 3DM file I/O library which I think should then enable reading Rhino v5 files directly.
