If you want a curve to have similar "smoothed" corners, you can also use 'fillet'.

In pic 1 (corner.jpg) i just made a line
In pic 2 (smooth.jpg) i used fillet on it with a radius of 2.

You can also continue afterwards with the tips Michael gave you.
(just delete some points).
