What will be the price? JT translators can be quite expensive.

The price will be:

> Hello Ralf,

> Thank you for your interest in CAD Exchanger.
> At this point, GUI and CLI (Command Line Interface) applications are available for free download.
> The final pricing policy has not been defined yet, but we consider even going for free.
> Anyway the major revenue stream is SDK licenses, so that should be fine.

> If you have any particular interest please let me know....

Hi,
i need a cad-converter for stp-files to obj for Cinema 4D.
I read the information about moi3d and CAD Exchanger.
But i dont know which is better for me.

Hi Orhan, you'll get the best information if you test each one yourself. You can get the MoI v3 30-day trial version from the downloads section of http://moi3d.com . There are a lot of improvements coming for MoI v4 though which will be out before the end of this year. V3 does have the ability to generate high quality n-gon meshes instead of only triangle meshes though. Test it by opening up your stp file and then doing a SaveAs to .obj format, then load the .obj file into Cinema4D.

Hi Michael,
thank you for your fast answer. The "generate high quality n-gon meshes isntead of only triangle meshes.." sounds good,
because often triangle polygons bring problems. In moi3d you can edit how much polyons / quality of the mesh you need?

I tried the v3 version before for a short time, but the trial version is ended before i could test it much.

If i buy the v3 now, get i the v4 in the next months?

best regards

Orhan

Hi Orhan,

> In moi3d you can edit how much polyons / quality of the mesh you need?

Yes, you can adjust a slider to make either a higher density or lower density mesh, the controls are described here:
http://moi3d.com/3.0/docs/moi_command_reference11.htm#meshdialog

If you e-mail me at moi@moi3d.com I can get you a new 30 day trial set up.

I'm sorry I don't know yet - when v4 is released there will be an automatic update available for people who purchased v3 within a couple of months or so before the final release but that will be retroactive from the final release and I don't have a final release date set yet. We could be a little bit outside that grace period right now.

You would be able to use the v4 beta release right away though.

- Michael

Hi Michael,
i have tested moi3d and compared with other CAD software.
And moi3d is very good and user-friendly. Above all the option "export n-gons" with various density mesh (low/high polygons).
The exported .obj files are qualitative well for Cinema 4D.

I can recommend it for Cinema 4D User!!! :)

Thank you.

Best regards

Orhan
