Hi Michael,

When i click the Edges button in the browser to select the edges of a visible object,
all hidden obects appear with all edges selected.

I prefer to work only on the visible object!

I had not noticed this but I agree with Paolo.

Clicking on the select button of any type, not just edges, brings back all hidden objects assigned to that browser button. So there is no way to hide all the red objects then select all the edges of the currently visible objects. The edges of the hidden objects pop back in again, defeating the point of hiding the object in the first place :-(

It's like the select button is tied to the make visible function as well as select.

This could be very aggravating if you've carefully hidden a bunch of stuff with the standard hide command, then accidentally click on a browser button and bring them all back.

Regards
Tony

Hi Paolo and Tony,

There is a MoI.ini setting to do what you want, it's under [Scene Browser] third heading from the bottom and if you set SelectSkipHiddenObjectsDefault=y,at the moment it is set to default =n (no), then the hidden objects will not be selected.

Cheers
~Danny~

You can also lock the hidden objects to leave them out. Then Ctrl+A, Ctrl+Right on selected objects/solids, Then click edges eye.

Hi Danny,

Thanks for that. I hope Michael is going to document all of these settings for V2. I would never have figured that one out. I also think this should be 'y' by default.

I may be missing something but in what circumstances would you want to have the current default behavior?

Regards
Tony

I was thinking the same thing when I asked about this back in April http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=2604.1

Cheers

I remember reading that. But it didn't make sense to me at the time. I've not been using MoI much since finishing the Brain Amplifier. I got caught up in the Ivor contest over at Nurbs and Polys and have been working on a set of IFour Ivors :-)

Well with some of the tools still missing, it seems like its missing, but how else will you "Show all edges".

If there are hidden things and you need to review all edges, you dont want to be forced to "unhide everything".

I think with grouping and names and locks this is the behaviour that is needed with the global click.
