Hi Burr,

> Although Danny did say he had it first. Only Michael knows for sure! He ehe he.

Ok, I checked the logs. Danny checks in #1 (aside from my own download), then you are 6 minutes, 10 seconds behind him...

Better luck next time! ;)

Hi Michael,
> Careful handling the install, that is hot off the presses code there! :)
I did wait for the red glow turn to a dull orange before installing :)

> Hopefully I managed to not mess anything up!
so far so good :) Thanks.

First thing I noticed after naming and sizing some primatives is that after Boolean union of 2 solids into one solid, it inherits the name of the first solid, is this correct ? should'nt it default back to 'Unnamed' being a new shape/solid.

These australians are my new hero's!

Michael, Thanks for your hard work!. Having the properties available like this feels like an old friend has come to visit! I made a room for him on the side of the house to stay for awhile!

I'm stoked!

Trying to figure out what i can do for the D man!

These last few hours were a fun break for me!

Hi Danny,

> should'nt it default back to 'Unnamed' being a new shape/solid.

I'm not really sure...

Right now it kind of leans more to the side of preserving things when possible.

Like for instance when there are colors ready, if you have one solid that is blue and one solid that is red, when you boolean them together, would you expect to have a new solid that is neither blue nor red but instead the "default" color? Right now with such things I'm leaning towards making a new "combined" solid that would have some red faces and some blue faces in it.

The naming is being treated in the same basic way as that, but when you combine 2 solids into 1, if you have applied a name to the top-level object, there is only one "top level" container object that survives the combining... But since it is arbitrary which one survives maybe that case would be good to toss out the name I suppose.

What about with splitting? Currently names will survive that too, with the same name being applied to the split up pieces. Does that seem bad? It seems like it could be useful.

Hi Danny, one thing that will probably come in handy for you is that type label in the upper-right corner just to the right of the name.

When you have an object selected that has all joined edges, it will say "Solid" over there so that should be a quick way to tell if your object is a full solid without needing to do any other steps.

That "select naked edges" script will still be handy for the case where you don't have a solid and you want to see where the open edges are, but you won't need to run it just to see if something is a solid or not.

mmm, not sure at this stage, I guess I have to use it a bit more before I can answer the question.

Thanks again

Hi Danny, yeah really the name is not particularly useful quite yet - it probably won't really be apparent what to do with some of these specifics until the scene browser tree thing is available, which will use the names more heavily I think.

Brian,
Here is the first one called sidepane.htm (ref #2)

This is placed in the UI folder.
Be sure to back up the original sidepane.htm before you overwrite it with this.

I dont remember what it's supposed to do so I cant test it first. I'm looking at the #1 file now to get that out to you.
Let me know.
Burr
