Hi Michael,

I'm assuming that a scanned file converted to pdf from the scanner is not MoI friendly ?
Would that be correct ? just checking.

Cheers
~Danny~

Hi Danny - that's correct normally just a scan converted to PDF won't work because the PDF file will contain a bitmap rather than vector line/curve data.

One way to tell is to open the PDF inside of the Adobe reader, and zoom in on some pieces of it. If when zoomed in it looks all jaggedy like this:

Then that means it is a bitmap in the PDF file, like the same kind of data as in a JPG file.

You have to run something like that through a vectorizer converter to turn it from a bitmap into lines and curves, either that or save it as a bitmap file and use it as a tracing guide with View/Image in MoI.

Hi Pilou, the best way to print NURBS curves on a large-format printer?

I would probably give Rhino a try for that.

Hi Pilou, well as far as I know all the new styles of plotters work like giant inkjet printers, like the one that you showed in your message here: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=1949.4 - is like that, it will use an ink jet mechanism and not pens to draw that large forest poster that you showed.

If you want to drive one of the real pen plotters, I think those require some special software that knows how to emit the instructions for moving the pens around, if I remember right those styles of printers do not get set up with a general Windows printer driver.

As far as I know that kind of a pen plotting system is quite old now and you may need to use some older software to drive it, I would recommend looking for an older version of AutoCAD for that possibly.

Had one of those pen plotters and it used the HPGL language.

And windows drivers for them at http://www.winline.com/
