Hi Anis,

I enjoy design and modeling and have a few Ideas so I purchased MoI for home use only I don't really use it at work with NX.
As for current projects, I'm just fooling around to see how V2 handles, the last 'real' thing I did was the dental job that I
posted a little while ago.
I will post something soon though, I'm modeling something that has a lot of pieces and fine detail to see what modeling strategies
I have to use in MoI as it is totally different to NX, so far I find it more enjoyable and the object edit frame in V2 is being utilised more and more,
when I go back to V1 sometimes, without the object edit frame it feels like I've lost a few fingers :)

Cheers
~Danny~

Hi Anis,

> Could you post a sample when object edit frame very useful for you ?

Here is a simple assembly example, in the next beta it will be possible to merge, so it will be even quicker.
I've showed a couple of positioning methods, but the first one isn't really nessesery if you use 'move' at the end.

Sorry about the file size, I was trying out Jing.

Cheers

Hi Anis,

> What do you mean by merge ?

You will be able to drag and drop 3dm files straight into your open session of MoI, then you will have the option to import 'merge' that 3dm file with the current session or open a new session,

The drag and drop topic is discussed here

Cheers

Hi Anis,

> BTW, when will you can post the preview of Object
> Organization ( even in the first stage ) ?

I can post some stuff after I have started to work on it! :)

I am still right now finishing up a few things that I had wanted to get into the current beta but did not have time to do before SIGGRAPH.

It's not too much stuff but it may take me about another week to work on it, it is hard to know exactly.

Then I will release another beta, and then after that I will be all ready to focus entirely on object organization stuff.

I'm sorry but it is very hard to guess at time tables for things, it is not unusual for some bugs and some problems to take a while to solve.

But it is better for me not to rush and create a lot of bugs, doing each step carefully is slow but lets me keep the software at a really high level of quality.

I could go faster if I didn't care about fixing up bugs as I go along, but I don't think you would be happy with the end result of that kind of an approach.

Hi Danny, the text preview is all set up for the next beta.

It will look like this:

So you will get a chance to see a wireframe text preview which updates as you type in new text or change any of the options.

That's definitely good news, I was certainly hoping it would help to speed up transformations! :)

Yeah, I am also noticing the feeling of something missing when using v1 too.

Your demo video shows off some of the cool parts of the "quick but precise" functions of it, since the edges of the edit frame can snap on to other objects - that's kind of a key function that this style of frame gives which is different from the way that a "universal manipulator" type thing works which are commonly used for polygon modeling programs.

Some people were asking why I didn't use the same kind of manipulators as polygon programs use - your video is a great and simple explanation of the reason why, since you can scale an object to line up with another particular point instead of just by some arbitrary scale factor.

Fantastic!! as usual :)

Yawn, Borrring........;)

Michael, your object edit frame is well thought out and unique, you always listen to the users and bounce ideas off of us, I haven't come across anything like it, in the cad world that is, I haven't done much poly to compare, but even though it is new to me, picking up the advantages and using it in the work flow was a breeze.

Just to let you know I wasn't really a forum person, but MoI has changed that :)

Thanks
~Danny~
