Hi Nick, currently there isn't any tool for that, but probably the "rebuild" tool that I would like to add in would be good for that.

It will basically reconstruct a curve by sampling some points along it and then building a new curve that goes through those points.

But it will maybe be a little while before I can get to that one, I don't think I will have a proper place to put it in the UI until after the object properties panel is done.

Hi Nick,

In the beta2 version you can evenly space
point objects on a curve with Array on curve,
and use those points to reconstruct a single curve

@Michael: Ok, thanks.
@Paolo: Thanks. I have been doing the same process you described. I'm lazy and was hoping for a MoI 'magic wand' to clear up a choppy curve with 2 clicks. ;)

FYI: I come up with these kinky curves a lot when tracing an image.

That sounds like the "Reduce Nodes" feature in Corel Draw.

Very, very useful.

When I trace over an existing drawing, I just click along the curve at reasonable intervals to make a reproduction consisting of short, straight line segments.

Then I reduce nodes and it smooths out the curve and gives me fewer, manageable control points. I then make slight adjustments from there. It's a very fast way for me to build a complex curve that matches the original drawing.
