Hi Chuck, from what I understand here is the best that I can recommend for a step-by-step:

If you have a set of ellipses like this:

Select them all:

Then run Construct / Loft to create a surface through them.

If you are getting something substantially different from what I show above, it would really help if you could post your .3dm model file so I could see what might be going on in your particular case.

One thing is that if you are selecting the ellipses by clicking on them, make sure to click on them in the sequence that you want them lofted in. Like for example don't click on the middle one first, then a couple on one side, then a couple on the other side, instead click on them from left to right order so that when they are lofted in that order you will get a proper result.

If you select them with an area select (by clicking off to the side in empty space and dragging a selection rectangle), or by something like Select All, then MoI will do an automatic sort of them. If your curves are all at odd angles to one another the automatic sort may not work completely right and you may need to select them by individual clicks instead in that case.

Hi Chuck, I'm entirely sure if this is what you mean, but if you want to have a box on one side, you can create it by this method.

Start by running the Draw solid / Box command, located here:

Place the first 2 points something like this:

And the 3rd point for the height something like this:

Then in this case I went to the Front view and dragged the box downwards a bit, to result in this:

Now you can fuse those 2 pieces together by selecting them both and running Construct / Boolean / Union.

Can you please take a screenshot and post that here? You can do that by pressing the "Print screen" key on your keyboard which will take a snapshot of the screen and put it into the clipboard.

Then you can go to an image editing program (Windows paintbrush will do if you don't have anything else), and paste that in and save as a .jpg file, and then attach that here (or e-mail to me at moi@moi3d.com).

It is really hard to understand what you are seeing just from a description, a screenshot will make it much easier for me to understand.

Also, if you can post your .3dm model file that would also help as well.

One difference in what I showed was that I deleted the Ellipse curves after I completed the loft, so that you could more easily see the generated surface.

In this exercise I made the two squares and the rounds.
Firstly I lofted the two squares, then lofted a second time as shown.
Was that if interest?

Hope this is not out of place, just experimenting a bit with the concepts inspired by the thread.
