I think the most pressing thing now is to enable the formating toolbar for normal messages, so people can directly embedd images with ease - clicking on links doesn't really cut it IMO ;-)

This would be more logical as well, since currently one DOES get the toolbar when editing the posted message afterwards....

Otherwise I like the new font - only the threadlist is getting a bit long...

What I am not totally convinced of is the blue bar on top of the site itself.
MoI has such a nice GUI, but this blue bar looks "suboptimal" - like a preset from a webeditor... ;-)
The website could use a more professional and MoI-like look IMO as well as some really impressive examples...

Well, I'm sure this will grow over time just as MoI did :-)

It's not your problem - image previews (like a small thumbnail display) don't happen automatically by a browser, it is something that has to be coded into the forum itself, and this forum does not do that right now.

I am going to try and work on something to make it easier to insert an image directly inline into a message instead of only as an attachment link, that should help.

But I assume that here you are talking about images added as a file attachment - can you see the images in this post ok: http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=1361.11

no michael there's not problem for me...maybe one...i don't attach image for my avatar and i don't see the avatar image of other user...

Hi Daniel, yeah the avatars do not display inside threads right now, only in a visitors log page which I have turned off currently.

My major focus for the forum is to make it simple and easy to use, making it really flashy is not really a #1 goal.

But I am still working on tuning up some pieces, and that will include some visual stuff.

It may be hard to get avatars to display inside message threads without it taking up a lot of space.

The nice thing about this forum is that it presents a lot of information on one single page, like list of threads and active thread simultaneously visible, so it is really quick to browse a lot of things without needing a lot of back-and-forth navigation between totally separate pages.

Maybe it would be useful to have also the date of the last message in the list of the threads on the left. I saw that this is possible with Beehive forums, so maybe you could enable the option.

Beehive is set up to display the date by default, but I found that it took too much space away from the thread name so I have removed it.

But I have made a change so that the date of the last message is now included in the tooltip that will display if you pause your mouse over a thread.

There is also a little secret shortcut if you want to jump to view the last message in a thread - on the thread counter thing on the right side of the thread list that looks like this: [106] , the brackets are actually little links that jump straight to the first or last message in the thread. so click on the little ] to jump to the last message right away.

Certainly tastes vary and really there is no one single design that is perfectly suitable to every different person...

Early on in the development of MoI I made a conscious decision to put "keeping with tradition" at a very low level of priority. It was kind of a risky decision in many ways but it tends to make development work a lot more interesting and fun (but unfortunately more difficult too!).

In some ways it is interesting because the wide variety between many different web sites seems to have made people more accepting of different designs these days, but then there seems to be a few areas like web discussion forums that have a kind of established tradition now themselves.

The ones formatted like that mean the date was today. I think I can tune that up.

of course but in general even the date of the day, some people don't know it :)

Hi Pilou, this is fixed now - the tooltip will always display the day and month, and for threads started on this same day it will also display the time of day. The year will be displayed only for years that don't match the current year.

So now you can use the tooltip as a clock if you are not sure what day it is today. ;)

Improved message display - each message now has a nicer looking border and title section.

Automatic thumbnail generation for image attachments enabled. This will only be for new uploads from now, older uploads won't have thumbnails.
