This is strange. After exporting simple DXF objects for laser cut, the 3dm file lost the objects when reloading the next day. I may have accidently exported 3dm on top of the original file before exporting to DXF. Attached is what is left of the 3dm file. It has 316k of nothing. Nothing hidden.

THe file appears to be constructed with "Vetric" definitions and not so much native OpenNurbs...?
Did you possibly do the file exporting in Vetric and not Rhino or MoI?

Not sure whats going on with the 3dm file

Hi Wayne, it looks like your hex_paper_frame.3dm file isn't a Rhino .3dm file, it looks like it is some other kind of file with the wrong file extension on it.

Looks like it's from Vectric?
