Hi Matadem, can you please make a simplified example file for before the nudge and your desired result?

Do you want it to move in some fixed size steps or should it go to the edge of the bounding box of all visible objects?

Attached some examples...hope to explain correctly.
If this would work in any of the 2d views it would be great (except the 3d...not necessary)

basically bring the selected object closer to the "screen".

I would think moving in fixed steps would be better...say your if project is in mm you can move it either 1mm or 10 or 100 would be ideal.
same for cm ...meters etc.

Tnx!

Hi Matadem, for moving in fixed steps there is a Nudge script here that can do that:

https://moi3d.com/download/scripts/PetrsMoiPage/PetrsMoiPage.htm#Nudge

There are a couple of different variations, are any of those close to what you want?

Hi,

I often think this would be useful also.

It would "jump" the selected object over the next one, covering it in the z-axis, or the "local Z" of the current view.

Thanks,

Marc

Good day.
I have the nudge script installed already for a long time but never use it because it does change depend on the view.
so In the view top, bottom, left , front etc,

When you press up should go up regardless in which view you are and if your mouse is hovering in that window. I think the workflow will be faster.
And if you press F (depends how it is setup) it comes in the front closer to you..B goes farther away.

Now thinking about it it would be even better if arrow up will nudge 1mm up or whatever your project is setup but 1+uparrow will move it by 10x
2+up arrow will move it 100x

I saw there is a nudgevariation script I downloaded installed it but nothing has seem to change. (both in commands and roaming command folder)

Tnx!

That works nice!
Is it possible to add when your mouse is on one of the view that where the nudge will happen .
similar to the script that changes view when your mouse is on that view...I press spacebar that view will expand. time saver.

Thanks!!!

I Use Nudge with 4 options. with 4 arrow keys and pg up pg dn for all directions + Ctrl-Alt-Shift modifiers.

The Nudge. Nudge Large. Nudge Small. And Step Nudge

So regular keys for a basic unit of work environment. Contrl+ for a fraction of that. Alt+ for an exponential of that.Shift+ Step Nudge configured for a very small minute "precision" move.

So when working with Dimensions, my nudging is very definite at a few different levels. (4 nudge = 4 inches. Cntrl + Nudge x4 = 1 inch. etc.....)
