Shark Tooth

Brother called the other day and wanted a model of a shark tooth to machine on the 4th axis.

He came down and we whipped this up pretty quick.

It’s basically a cone and a revolved circle shape. Decided we can do the tooth serrations with tooling at cut time…

Pretty happy with result….

So to create the "Sharp Serrations" on the tooth, a machinist wouldn't "Model the little jaggeds" on the model. We used Array Path to put a specifically spaced (Determined by size of V-Bit. Think of a cone shaped tool with tip on the little lines) amount of profile paths for the machine to use to move into the edge of the part... This will create the "Serrated edge"....

The experiment will be to determine if a second set of "In between spaced" lines will be needed to be profiled from the 180, to look best. It will be easy enough to create and take just a bit more time to test up....

Hi Grendel,
Thank you for your method. I view you as a great contributor here and value it. May have to resort to your method. I hope to post back results.
