Hi Brian, thanks - yes a background image that is not embedded will still have a coordinate frame location (origin + x/y/z axes) and width and height.

When loading the file if the non-embedded image cannot be found in its original path, it will also look in the same folder as the .3dm file that is being loaded.

Otherwise you can go into the image properties and update the path.
