Hi Barry, the initial size is based on a rougher approximation so it can be computed quickly.
When you open the panel, a more comprehensive calculation is done to get a higher accuracy result there.
Someday I'd like to change this to do the more detailed and potentially time consuming calculation in the background. But this kind of delayed action stuff can tend to be a source of tricky race condition bugs though.
