Hi Michael,

I hope you are doing well, I have got a couple of quick questions for you.

Could we have an ability to extract edges as individual curves when we press Join on them? ( I know Join does that for polyline edges but it seems it doesn't do it with single edges or for example bases of a Cylinder) ( see the green line in the attached file)
Also Could we have an ability to quickly extract intersection line of two colliding surfaces? (see the red line in the attached file)

Hi Psygorn,

Join is focused on combining multiple objects together and so it ignores a single
object input.

You can extract edges as individual curves by selecting them and using
Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V copy/paste on them. That will work with any kind of edge selection.

You can do that now by selecting your 2 surfaces and then run the Construct > Curve >
isect command. That command generates curves or points at the intersections
between objects.

And How can I assign a short key to it?

For the command part of the shortuct key, put in:

Hi Michael,

Thank you :-)

Dear Michael, if you think I shouldn't ask the previous questions here (in the V5 Beta test thread) feel free to delete them.

Best,
Psygorn

It's ok they don't need to be deleted but it would be better if you could create a new topic for things like this.

It's just a little more difficult to keep track of multiple conversations all lumped together in the same thread.

Yes, you are right, I will try to be more organized with my questions in the future. :-)

Hi Alex,

> Will the copy and paste libraries between Moi5 and Rhino7 be fixed up to work together?

I don't know for sure, but probably not directly.

MoI v5 supports all the same clipboard formats as in previous MoI versions, but Rhino7 removed support for some clipboard formats like the OpenNURBS v5 format and that is what broke it.

But you can set up this helper utility to make it work right now:
http://moi3d.com/forum/index.php?webtag=MOI&msg=9890.18

You can modify the Ctrl+V shortcut in both Rhino v7 and MoI v5 to run the utility program "UpdateRhinoClipboard" before doing the paste.

The utility program will look in the clipboard and will convert the clipboard contents to OpenNURBS v5 format if going from Rhino into MoI or to OpenNURBS v7 format if going from MoI to Rhino. That will get the clipboard into the format that each app can handle and then the paste will work.

Thanks Michael, I work on various machines and keeping same setups gets tricky MOI is my first stop in conceptualising and then export to go to RHINO7/ SW/ Zbrush copy and paste was good while it lasted between RHINO.

Keep up the great work new features are highly welcomed and will add to work flows.
Regards
Alex.
