From your file a possible process lightly different than Phiro

Copy Past Move all general curves

For each curves : select each sides' path : Join each for don't have curves trimed!
Press Tab write Rebuild (hidden function) - choice in the popup 10 "Points" as you want...
...for have same number of points by curve

Loft curves by Curve (Circle...Circle), (Circle ..Curve) Side by side...Profil "closed"
Rounding is made by the final Loft function so no regulates possible but all depends of what do you want! :)

Last Loft with all curves selected!

Have happy new year! :)
(you can click on the ring for a little effect)

Hi Gunter, a few notes -

The reason why filleting doesn't work on your ring is that these areas are not smooth, they are slightly creased:

Areas that are not smooth but fairly close are difficult for the filleter to handle. That's because fillet surfaces only naturally touch each other between surfaces that are tangent to each other. When there is a crease the fillets do not end in the spot and will need to be extended and intersected with each other which is a difficult process between surfaces that meet at a shallow angle.

So to make that able to be filleted, you would want to be more careful about how the profile curve is constructed so that it is all smooth before constructing from it.

For Phiro's result I think that was done with using Sweep. To reproduce it, select these 2 curves and run Construct > Sweep:

Then select these 2 as the rails and push "Done":

That should generate this result:

Hi Gunter, I've attached a tuned up version of your model which should now fillet ok:

They key thing that I changed was to make sure that the segments of the front profile view were smooth to each other. That's done by having the end point and the first interior points all in the same line:

But with this method of generating the base model from 2 straight extrusions it probably won't give the kind of "bulbous" quality that you are looking for, there is just too much straight geometry there. Probably something generated by sweep or network would be better for this case.

Hi Gunter,
Here is a simple method of using a sphere and turning on the points and squishing them around with the edit frame...

I left the sphere with no hole and fillets in the file in case you wanted to see it...
