It's often good to try and make pieces that should be smooth to each other to be constructed out of just one larger surface instead of patching in several pieces.
So for your case here I'd probably try having the sweep rails longer like in the attached version.
Another possibility could be to trim away some empty space between the surfaces and use Construct > Blend to put in a smooth blend surface between them. But it's usually better to make things that are supposed to look like one smooth piece to be made out of just one larger surface. Sometimes it can be tricky at "pole" pinch-point areas though.
Also sub-d modeling is good at making blobby shapes that are smoothed all over.
