Thanks for the comments! :)

I am working on the rest of the instrument and will post further development.

Twinsnakes:
It is basically made out of several profiles swept along two rails. The head is also divided in 4 parts as it evolves to smaller portions of the spiral.

I learned a quite a lot with this project!

Very impressive Marc.

If your not under any kind of NDA, would you mind sharing your project file with the community when you've finished?

Hi Twinsnakes,

I guess I could email you the model if you are interested to check it out.
I will have to finish it first thought! :)

Regards,

Marc

Hello!

I found some time to finish the instrument.

The top body loft isn't quite straight, but nothing a couple clamps and glue can't fix.

I've struggled the most with the head, although the chinrest was a challenge for me.
I really learned a lot through the process.

Regards,

Marc

Very nice Marc !

I hope you plan to do a render in another application now. I'd really like to see this one with materials applied on it !

Congrats for the model.

Thanks for the comments!

Schbeurd, I would indeed like to render this model eventually.

Pilou, At one point I have experimented with line and selection colors and It stayed this way, don't know why though...maybe the blue line makes better high-pitched notes :o)

Michael, thanks! I don't believe I could've modeled such a project this easily in an other application.

Regards,

Marc

How'd you do the strings wrapped around the pegheads? They look really good how you made them uneven like a real violin.

(I am a guitarist so I noticed this right off the bat.)

Hi angeliclight, thanks for the comments! I used a helix that I joined to a polilyne.
Afterwards I swept a circle across the path.

I used different turn numbers and different widths on the helix to make it look more natural.

Younger I've studied a while in instrument making, it was quite interesting.

Regards,

Marc

You say "younger" you studied instrument making.

I am in my 76th year. What do you mean in relation to younger/as now?
