Yes I can understand that having outdated docs can be confusing. In the past I've included these in the regular install with the idea that some translated documentation is better than none, even if it is outdated.
But maybe I should reconsider that and not include out of date translations in the base install.

The "Project intersections" option for trimming curves does work in the 3D view, however the projection direction comes from the view's construction plane grid. So in the 3D view you'll get a result same as the "Top" view, and as you can see in your screenshot, in the top view the 2 curves when projected do not intersect each other:
You can make your case work in the 3D view if you set the construction plane:
