Hi Ditto, yes you can use the Construct > Curve > Silhouette command in MoI to calculate that parting curve.

Select your object, then run Construct > Curve > Silhou :


In the command options set "View: Top", the silhouette curve generated from the Top view is the parting line. You can then use Edit > Trim to cut the object with that curve to separate it into pieces.

No that's not the same thing. It's not only just cutting a block into 2 pieces anywhere, you need the cut line on the surface to be at the furthest outline from a "pull direction", which is what the Construct > Curve > Silhouette command will calculate.

Once the object is cut along that silhouette then you can construct some surfaces going away from it to divide the block.
