Copy move sections for more easy process... Join the 2 circular sections if they are half... Then Loft the 3 sections

Order of selection of the sections is very important!
Caps or not caps is possible, loose, straight style can be also asked depending of wanted resultat!



And of course at the end if you ask Show Points for the "middle section"
you will have Real Time deformation! ;)
Any selection of Points can be moved in any directions!

...I´m almost sure: people like me costs you helpers time of your live! B U T : Now I got the principles for that modeling. They are so simple that it not may be true. Sorry for my moi-skills, deeply. Where are you..in order to send tons of chocolate to you. (ok - better salad and vegetables...?!)

Hi Mala yes it will be a matter of adjusting the control points of the curves you used for constructing the shape. There aren't any tools currently for doing that automatically.

Localized bumpy details can be awkward to model with a CAD modeling toolset, the main focus in CAD surfacing is on making broadly smooth sheets and not really on fine local bumpy details.

Bumpy shapes and fine tuning bumps can be done better in a displacement brush based modeling system like 3D Coat or ZBrush. Those allow you to refine bumpy details using brush strokes directly on the surface.

Moi3D is not done to create bumped surfaces, but you have a possibility to do it with Moi3D with its plugins.
Here is a exemple of antic coin pendant and a memento mori coin.
I did a grayscale of the bump and use the plugin heightmap to create this in Moi3D.
The printed result is pretty good...

Smart, Frenchy, new inspirations in deed.

One more modeling thing: breaking the surface along line.
The car images are showing what I need to do...breaking the surface.
How do I do that? I tried some boolean operation to make a cut in the ring. Then my intention was it so lift the surface... But I failed. Which tool should I use?

Else my method of moving points can also works very speedly! :)

For a more tortured line

Something like that

Project your curve on the ring
Extrude to Z
take a thickness Shell /middle center line of this curve out of the ring
Move it a little inside the ring
Trim from the ring
Network the hole "intersection"
Show Points
and move the line of middle points as above! :)
Join





Maybe like Chipp Walter tuto a "double Trim + Blend" will be necessary following the material used in render
for have a nice junction!

Hi Mala, for this case where you want the break line to be going in the sweep direction it would probably be good to put in profile curves in that area and reshape the center profile to have a fin rising above it like this:

Michael, and thanks to Frenchy too, ...the last look pretty smart and it´s near to that what my goal is.
But...hmmm´...I cannot construct a sharp profil like you did which is additionally clean and well formed. When I trimm the curve in order to make the form like I want, it seems to be cutted.
Why is the connection lost for a smooth curve? Tried all trim commands, but still got the problem...

Hi Mala, I'm sorry I'm not undertanding your question:

The Trim command does cut a curve, that's the job that it is meant to do.

Is it that you want to add some points to the curve? If so use Edit > Add pt for that, not Trim.

Is there maybe a 2D vector program that you're familiar with that uses a type of Cut tool for adding points to a curve? If so then that's a little different than MoI, MoI's trim tool is for cutting a curve into pieces, not just for adding points for point editing.

If you click on CTRL during the drawing you will have "Sharp" junctions between Control Points...

Till now you can't change a "Sharp" Control Point against a "Smooth" Point ! (or inverse)
So add one like you want and erase previous you don't want...and move the new one at the previous place! :)

Else another method you can use!

The Iso Curves! (Construct / Curves / Iso)
For easy selection and moving the Control Points!
Just Loft at the end!
