Hi James, Marco and Brian,

The new UI of the Modeler looks ihmo modern and not like EIM's.
The interesting thing from yesterday's forum screen shot was for
me that it also includes a "Reverse Engineering" menu, which according
to a reply on Facebook, from Kishore, will handle then polygon and point
cloud models.

And regarding the old EIM Modeler, it was for its time pretty advanced,
with functions like match surfaces and the cool ÜberNURBS, which allowed
one to model detailed organic NURBS models too. If i can find reference fotos
from ÜberNURBS models i will post them here.

Regards
Stefan

Here are some models created with EIM, from Malcom Thain (R.I.P.)

Not sure if the new Modeler will also contain ÜberNURBS/ÜberMesh functionallity...

Hi Stefan,

Yes I forgot to mention UberNurbs. At the time it really was revolutionary. There was so much to admire about EI modeller.

But...it was quite the betrayal to abandon users who had made sizeable investment with the expectation of continued development and upgrade path, to just drop the product.

Although, they stated at the time that they were painted into a corner by Spatial Corp.'s licensing fee for ACIS.

In the end it was Apple that drove the last nail in the coffin for me, with the move to OSX on intel machines.

I look forward to seeing what EI produce

Hi James,

yes, i agree. I still have the OS X version of EIM (which runs under Snow Leopard)
and my dongle and license code.

As understood, Kishore developes on his own the new Modeler, for his own company.

Regards
Stefan
