hi
I have moi installed on a mac and pc. I recently got a new pc so reinstalled moi. Now i have no shortcuts except the default ones.
My question is how can i transfer shortcuts from mac to pc?
Where do the shortcuts live on each system, I'm assuming if i know this i can simply copy a text file over?
regards

Hi Matt, the shortcuts are stored in the moi.ini file so you'll want to copy over your moi.ini file from your mac onto your pc.
To find out the location of moi.ini , in MoI go to Options > General and push the "Edit .ini file" button. That will bring up a dialog that will show you the path to the moi.ini file.
There is however one additional complication which is that the MoI v4 Mac version stores shortcut keys in a different section in the moi.ini file. This is because of an incompatibility with the older MoI v3 Mac release which did not support Alt key shortcuts and would throw those away.
So that means you'll need to slightly edit the moi.ini file on your pc which you copied over from the mac. Open it up in a text editor and find the line that says:
[Shortcut Keys]
Edit that to say something like [Shortcut Keys bak] so that it won't be used.
Now find the line that says:
[Shortcut Keys Mac]
This is the section that MoI v4 Mac has saved its stuff to. Rename this to [Shortcut Keys] so that it will be seen by the pc version and then you should be all set.
I guess I should tune this up so the pc version will look for [Shortcut Keys Mac] from a moi.ini originating on the Mac and go ahead and use that section if its there.

Thanks Micheal that worked. I also learnt how to view hidden files :-)
