Full Version: animation - simulation - for simple movements

From: Franz

Hallo!

I am currently engaged in the planning and production of theater seats for stage design at the Vienna State Opera ("Der Freischütz").
As always, I used Moi3d for this. To show the result, I simply took a screenshot, directly from MoI,
with SNAGIT (https://www.techsmith.com/screen-capture.html), and published it on YouTube.
A simple but efficient way has made enough impression.
But now I aksed me, it would be nice to show the function of the folding seat as an animation.
What are the best ways to do this?

Thanks for your tips in the forward.
Franz

Hi Franz - using a rendering program that does animation would be the best way to do it. Check out Simlab composer for example.

Hi,

Or just use Blender it's a 3D compositing open source free app. Export from Moi 3D as obj and import in Blender.

Lots of tutorials to learn how to achieve what needed.... you're scene is not to complex.

Cheers

For a video animation i would use Keyshot animator..
For a interactive animation i would use Nodeeditor in Moi... there are several nodes available which handel animations..

Hallo all!

Thanks for your reply.
I will learn the rendering-programs in the near future. The nodeeditor also seems to me to be very suitable for my purposes.
But he is also challenging to handle, I think.
At the moment a simple solution as shown in the GIF would be enough for me.
However, the moving part is "highlighted". Is there a way to temporarily switch off this "Yellow Highlight"?

Regards, Franz.

Hi Franz,

Sorry no, there isn't any way to do that currently. It's just showing you what will be selected at the end of the command.

If it didn't show that there would be a kind of flash when you finished the command.

The Transform commands are really designed to be used for modeling, they aren't designed for generating animations through screen captures. A program that was designed to produce animation should be a better fit for that job.

Hi Michael, John and Ralf!

Thank you for taking care of those little things, too. It's not so bad if it's highlighted in yellow, I think.
Next I will make friends with blender and nodeeditor...
This will take some time, since I also have to make chairs :)

Best Regards
Franz

Moi --> Export SKP --> SketchUp

Another free and some easy way will be to use Animator by Fredo6 inside the free SketchUp Make 2017 ;)
https://www.sketchup.com/fr/download/all

And for only moves of camera SketchUp Itself can do that without Plugins directly with the "Scenes" ! ;)

Hi Pilou!

Thanks for the tipp with sketchup, i will try it also.

Now I made my first steps with the nodeeditor. I got my movement.
But it'll still be a long way...

I couldn't rotate the entire seat, which consists of several bodies, by selecting by name at once.
The seat that has to be turned consists of the following bodies: "Eisen", "pp", "Schraube links", "Schraube rechts", "SitzRahmen".
Previously I had all only named "Sitz", but it was not possible to rotate in one movement.
I had to create a name and rotation for each body, but all on a slider.
Besides, I was only able to turn around "rX" (for me x0). I haven't found out how the rotation axis could be moved.
But a start has been made...
Regards,
Franz

Hello Franz
at this link:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/xd7e58643833j6a/Seat_Rotation.zip
you will find the file and some images
clarification to apply simple rotation
to the seat ....
All automated using quartz2 Node (thanks Ralf)
by applying some switches, you will have total control of the movement,
start , end, speed and run
I hope it helps you
regards

Hi Franz
What warning message do you receive?
you can post a picture .....
in each case the nod file. It is connected with two objects
referenced, the seat's skin and the line it represents
its axis of rotation ...
so clearly first you have to open the 3dm file
make sure there is a connection in the Object by Name nodes
and then run ...
If, on the other hand, you look at the red-lit icons, then you say
that not updated the extension library ...
Strange, the 3dm file is very light, so is the file nod ..
I could not tell you anything else ...

Hi Alberto!

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, I haven't had any time lately...
Now I tried again, could download the file.
Again with a message for Windows..., but I think it is a spam-message.
(-Windows is infected with viruses and other malicious applications.
Viruses must be removed and system damage repaired
It is first necessary to remove the virus immediately. Mte drive you up
"If you leave this page your Windows remains corrupted and vulnerable"-)

But my attempt to play the "Seat Rotation.dm" didn't succeed, I got no "RUN".

I tried 'nodeeditor.v.1.0.rc3.2018.03.09", the last version of the node editor(*Seat Rot.jpg).
But also "nodeeditor.v.0.85" and "nodeeditor.v.0.99.2017.12.18" did not run, I lost connections
from speed stard and end.

I think, that I make a lot of things wrong.

Can you give me a tip on how best (and slowly) to learn the functions of the nodeeditor?
It really seems to be a very interesting but complex subject.

Thanks
Franz

Hi Franz
in the file two nodes are highlighted in red,
GetCrv Frame and Quartz2 ,
obviously you do not have these two nodes in the Extension folder,
inside the Nodeeditor Container-
The file personally
I did it with the 1.0 rc2 version
the exstensions to update I enclose them a this link :
http://www.mediafire.com/file/3s7tjc7ihyam5yf/Extension_v1.0_rc2.zip
are Points 2 and rd2 (if you want you can insert the whole Extension folder, instead of just these two ..... as you want)
Without this everything should work ...
Have a nice day
alberto

NB
Lastly
to enable rotation, you must connect the quartz2 output
at the entrance of the last Switch active-

Hi alberto!

Thanks for your reply, i tried it, but I think may be im wrong or dont have some nodes or funktions.
Here some screenshots:

Have a nice day,

Hi Franz
now the nodes are all ok
I have attached some images to this link:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/pzxg8p01ajxiyl8/Seater_Rotation_Picture.zip
To start the movement, the last Switch node , that
connected at the exit with the Seat rotation node,
it must be set up, that is, in line with the exit of the node
Quartz 2-
See image 3
I hope everything is clear......
have a nice day
