Can you make make me a little animation about the "projection to next point" with the "Helper lines" ?
I am a little perplexed about that!
When I use it (just for the fun because I have not yet understood really the power of that and how use it! )
I can't used the white point shown at the intersection of the Helper white line and a vertice of a volume : it's disapeared as soon as I move the mouse!
So a pedagogic video of that will be very helpful for me ...and surrely other people! :)
Have happy new year and coding!

Hi Pilou, here's an example where I use it to match the endpoint of a line to the height of a cone:

AAAAhhhh! Thanks for the info!
I have totally missed the fact that you must click the "start point" ! (here the cone's pinaccle)

Ah great! Thank you for sharing that technique

These posts make little sense to me.
The video shows drawing a line?
Apparently they relate to the posts here:

and

?
And require editing of moi.ini file?
and also "uncheck project to plane in ortho views" in options snap?

Hi Brian, Pilou was asking a question about how the "Project next pt" construction line function works.
So that video shows drawing a line and using it, it's on the construction line popup menu, there's more information here:

Nope, those are different things although they do involve projection of some sort.
The question Pilou had was about the construction line projection option.

Nope, neither of these are required to use the construction line "Project next pt" function. These options that you're referring to can adjust how some of the snapping behavior works though. By default when you're picking points in an ortho view, it flattens any snap points you hit so that the shape that you are drawing will be planar. That's different than how picking points in the 3D view works, if you pick 2 points in the 3D view for a line they can be on different elevations. If you want the ortho views to behave the same way and not planarize snap points, you can turn off that "Project to plane in ortho views" option, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Many Thanks Michael,
After carefully watching the video again, and reading the command reference, I finally was able to reproduce the actions and results of your video!
