An electric bass with a shorter scale (30.75”) made with the help of Moi3d.
Didn’t make the neck on this project, too much work. Quite happy with the results.

Happy holidays!!

Nice work! I assume it was made on a CNC?

Hi Marc, that is awesome! Yes if you don't mind it would be cool to hear some of the details on your building process.

Thanks for the comments.
I Wish I had a CNC, it was done with conventional power tools,

I printed the 1:1 plan and glued it on a MDF board to shape it.
From there I used a straight router bit with a ball bearing that followed the template to cut the wood underneath.
A laser was used to align the neck.

How did the bass turn out? How do you like it?

Hi Neil,

It sounds great, a bit like a Musicman Stingray (minus 6 pounds!).
It plays every week with the band!

I still have some minor electronics problem with the ground, it produces a bit of noise.

I’m by no means a professional builder, just an enthusiast.
I did follow a course in instrument making when younger.

I make my own mogami's... could be there too...

Active electronics. I didnt see any of the foil in "the parts" picture.

HI Burr,

Do you play music?
I didn't know about mogamis, looks like interesting cables.

Yeah I did put in the copper foil, the problem must be somewhere else.
I'm not very good with electronics...

Hey Marc,

Yes. Rock.

Mogami W2524 is very good cable, sheilded well. Dispite what you may read, makes a huge difference. Expensive to buy, not bad if you make your own (i do)

Yes, it can take time to track down what can be in several areas.

Do you have a chain in the loop? Try bypass that.

Also, a ground loop in the ac could be the cause. If you dont have a device with a ground lift, you can try a different outlet, or better yet, a differet path to breaker being sure to unplug other components from the loop to check... good luck!

Hi Burr,

Yes sir, rock from the Islands!!
We play a mostly funk instrumental blend.

Thanks for the pointers, very generous of you.

I've tried on different amps/cables and get the same results

I will try and draw a schematic of how it is wired when I get some time, it will help me double check it.
The jungle of cables in the pit can be confusing.

"Funk instumental"

In the 70's i was huge on billy cobham, tony williams, return to forever stuff..... close! Has to be rock now. Cant remember more than 3 chords! :o

Drawing out the wire pile will help for sure. My brother recently replaced and rewired a michael kelly semi hollow and needed a second pair of eyes rewiring. Took us a good 2 hours to stare at it and follow!

Anyway, low B all the way brother!!!

I'm in the right place to make this question :)

In the early 80's i have bought a second hand Gibson Les Paul De luxe, then sold when stopped to play
It was a Gibson:very comfortable to play, low action and so on,but had a little different shape of the body
The "horn" was very rounded, not as the classic Les Paul shape.I highligth in the picture the part

It was a Gibson? They produced something like that in the past?

Now,at 56 years i restarted to learn guitar :)

Hi Burr,

""""billy cobham, tony williams, return to forever stuff"""
I listened to them a lot !

Jeff beck's "Wired" is in my favorites of those years.
I recently discovered "Man-Child" by Herbie Hancock, good!

Hi Mauro,

I don't know guitars that much.
Maybe Burr, Neil or someone else would know.
