I have a big problem, I used today SUBDIV Script first time, but now I can not import any OBJ, also after deleting the script I couldn't import any OBJ .. I didn't see that option since now ---

Hi Lordfox, re:

Sorry I don't understand this part - MoI does not itself import OBJ files, it's handled by Max's import script. So therefore if you delete the script like you say here then it's normal that you will not be able to import OBJs, because you just deleted the script that can do it.

Maybe you mean something else than that though?

HI Lordfox, re: image attachment - yes that's normal that you wont' see OBJ listed there. MoI does not natively handle OBJ importing, if you want to do it, you need to use Max's plug-in command to do it. The plug-in is run as its own command, it will not show up in the file types list that you are showing there.

Currently MoI does not have any mechanism for plug-ins to extend the main file open dialog box. I do want to add that in the future but for now since there is no way for a plug-in to in to modify that standard list it's implemented as its own specific named command that you have to launch, rather than trying to use the regular File > Open.

Tiny but useful script - sBridge. The first one from my new set of tools for subdiv modelling.
This script makes connection between two polygonal faces.

Subd modeling in MoI, how cool is that!

Can we dream of something like Bridge 2 Faces of a same volume ?

"… The first one from my new set of tools for subdiv modeling."

That’s good news Max. Even if your planned toolkit handles just the basic SubD functions, it sounds like many of the organic shapes people attempt to make in MoI might be possible.

For someone who is already comfortable using MoI and doesn’t require SubD often enough to completely learn a new program, your scripts can fill a real need.

Thanks everyone for positive comments :)

I rewrote the Bridge script. No new functions at the moment, but internal logic has been changed. This is a first step to bended bridges.
Also I wrote a script for polygon splitting. As Bridge it's very simple right now.
I decided to write all subdTools scripts with basic functionality, and only after that I'll start to improve them.

Totally awesome. I'm well covered with SubD tools, but being able to do this in MoI and with NURBS is awesome!

Thank you so much!

Just a wish...
Is it possible Subdivision command was not destructive ???
I would like to keep my original "polygon" model, just have a "visualization" of the subdivided object and can modified the surface like in a traditional 3D polygonal modeler.
Thanks for your very good job !
Thanks a lot Max !!

I was having fun with Max's newest subD tools. While experimenting with shapes I thought, "Hey - that looks like a Boom Box" So why not just finish it off :)

Red shape using Max's subD tools. Speaker grills and display lens using MoI revolve tool.
