Full Version: Smooth transition how would you do this?

From: Matadem

Good day.
I am drawing a kind of car fender ...practicing here.

How can I be able to do a smooth transition from the fender flare to the fender? I created with sweep after I cut it with the pipe script.

Attached a 3dm.

Also if I have a surface with allot of point how can I reduce the points count and how would I select a certain amount of points on a surface instead of starting outside the surface for selection?

Thank you!

Hi Matadem,

Use Construct > Blend for that instead of sweep.

Select edges on both sides of the space:

Then run Construct > Blend:

Try Mo's RebuildSurface script here:

You can hold down the Shift+Ctrl when you do the selection with the mouse. When both the Shift and Ctrl keys are being held down, MoI will immediately go into window selection mode and won't try to grab and move the object.

Don't forget that for use Rebuild Surface for any process or purpose...
Surface must have 3 or 4 edges!

So...a beginning can be to trim the surface by an isocurve
The game is to find the more tricky trimming!

But the left part has always 5 edges so...etc...

2 horizontal curves because the original curves edges for any reason has a trimmed point !

It's not a trivial process...and the Rebuild surface itself has some tricky parts & possibilities! :)

You must have 15 years of car modeling behind you like zarkow for find the good triming to apply inside MOi! :)

Best is to try to use only classic Nurbs and not patch for make imaginative cars!

Field is yet some large for play with them! :)

Look at the Nixus by Cristobal Vila... (video 16 years old) ;)

look this post! ;)
