Hi Eryon, It's not really that complex, but learning Blender is the biggest obstacle for sure.

But the subdivision surfaces give the possibility to make a continuity between the surfaces in a simple way, in fact they are mainly used in the creation of organic models, and many CAD software have implemented them in the concept phases, such as Rhino Alias and Moi3D but also CAD of high level like NX and CATIA.

a link to NX brochure on page 8 is visible the use of SubD
- https://www.plm.automation.siemens.com/en_us/Images/Siemens-PLM-NX-for-Automotive-br_tcm1023-233712.pdf

This is a hull made for a project that I recently completed, and always done with these techniques.

However there are many tools that can be simpler than Blender for mesh modelling maybe you can try other application
These are few application free and not

https://rocket3f.com/
https://www.daz3d.com/hexagon-3d-modeling-free

rocket3f has also a great interoperability with Moi3D

Nice to know that you have owned a very nice boat and I love all the wooden models.

Yes, I live in Italy, and the tutorial is only to share experiences with beginners, to have returns you have to make it a job, and create videos or anything else on social channels, some live with this type of content, but it is a demanding job.

In Europe it is certainly expensive and many skills have been lost over time, but with technology today it is still possible to work at lower costs, but many shipyards now produce in Turkey, China and other eastern countries.

I hope you will continue to share works, on the forum.

Greetings

Yep Hexagon 2 was made by a French team!
It mixes Polys and nurbs! ;)
And it's now free! ;)
I don't know if it's exactly the same than the above given by Parfurijaz! (updated or not)

Thanks for your info about CAD software.
I will explore them one by one which will take me some time.
In particular, I would like to install any Windows -only- software on Linux also.
For example, MoI3D runs actually on top of Lubuntu+Wine and an another PC with Win10.

My actual traget is to found an easy to use rendering software.
Sometime ago I was using Bryce6.0 (free edition) but it disapeared.

You are doing a very nice job on boatsand hull shape.
Of course. I will continue to share hull design on this forum with more and more details.
Regards
Eric

Bonjour Pilou,
As I said to Pafurijaz, you are way ahead of me.
I need some time to study everything and catch the delay in CAD.
Have you any experience on Bryce (daz3d family product)
In your opinion, is daz3d_hexagon is close to Bryce6.0 ?
I simply need some simple and free rendering software.
Thanks for your help and best regards.
Eric

p.s. I will continu to share on this forum.

For me the more easy classical Real Time render (and free in 1920 * 800, or 1920 *1080 if you take a previous one) is Simlab Composer!
https://www.simlab-soft.com/3d-products/simlab-composer-old-download.aspx
Accept of course some nurbs format from Moi Iges, Step, Sat but no the 3DM ! ;)
all other Poly formats OBJ etc...ngons...
if you want use the "free" versions don't Download the "Try" versions!

https://simlabfr.weebly.com/light.html (la version "light")
But now all translations are automatic! :)
https://www.simlab-soft.com/3d-products/simlab-composer-lite.aspx

I have made the French Version of the UI and some other little things for it! ;)
https://simlabcomposer.weebly.com (le manuel etc)

I use only this one (SimLab) or TwinMotion I don't want headaches on my old days for my pilouteries! :)
here SimLab

No
Hexagon2 is not like Bryce it's just a true free Modeler (Polys + Nurbs) not a Landscape maker! ;)
Bryce is (was) also one of the first French prog of "Unreality" Thx Eric Wanger! ;)

Bryce can be replaced by a true easy one: TwinMotion - it's not a true modeler! (free for personal use) for me the more powerful & easy for public!
New version releasead today! :)

https://www.twinmotion.com

I f you want a true Boat hull modeler try the free PolyCad ( not so easy than Moi but...)
I have made the French translation of the site! (an heavy one) ;)
