Thanks Marco,
Here's another example also done with NE, including a series of tests
that measures the areas of each facet with info/stlarea node
and comparing the resultant areas with logic/compare node
assigns colours according to facet size with logic/split node.

You're right, similar result achieved simply with Max's plugins,
or could alternatively, with SpherePts node in NE.
However, the point of the exercise was to use a spherized cube as the base surface.
Perhaps this one illustrate it better
