We can have multiple "Warp Boxes" in the same time!
Each stay editable till they will erased!

With the Move Tool TGI 3D Press CTRL for have all visible points of an edge (Blue Yellow)
The Instancied Components work will all deformations except with the "Full" function!!!

Erase the old edge else no success
erasing faces is no necessary - just aesthetic! :)

Trick is of course to draw an external more one component for more easy modification! ;)
Here the ground is a part of the box, but have not importance!
Only the 12 edges of the box are indispensable!

With the free version
Maximum of the first Warp Box is 187 components !
After an hundred of components by Box
Seems number of Warp boxes is illimited (not verified)

A volume alone will not deformed by a "Wrap box" along edges if it has no section!
But will be deform on its faces (Translation, Rotation, Scale)

Activate Hide Geometry before using Section Tool!
Just Double-Click on a green edge!

I truly wish there was a function or plugin in MOI3D to import Sketchup and FormZ native models.

Hi Kenmo,

re:

Sorry, neither is likely.

Sketchup files only contain polygon data, not smooth CAD surfaces or solids like MoI is designed to work with for modeling. Something that looks like a sphere in Sketchup is actually a whole bunch of little triangles, not a single sphere surface.

FormZ can contain either polygons or CAD solids but as far as I know it's not a publicly documented file format. So it would require an extremely time consuming reverse engineering analysis to figure out how the data is structured.

Hi,

That's quite interesting.

But then I went to check out the cost of SketchUp.

Too expensive for my needs.

Thanks for the link.

Yep it's more for Pro or for users who want to put on steroids their free version!
Now before 31 mars its' some low cost... and then maybe the next Black Friday! :)

Cool plugin. But SketchupPro has a insanely high price.

I wonder how SketchuPro compares against Form-Z Pro?

Another insanely high price! ;)
(Seems for the same price of Formz Pro and for "perpetual life" Rhino 8 3D is maybe a true challenger more exiting! ;)
Maybe not the same learning curve :)

FormZ Nurbs so true geometry are the big differences with SketchUp!
All in one so not many modeling plugins to add ;)

If you see the youtube video site you can see that activity is not like other! Sleeping prog ? ...
https://www.youtube.com/@formz3D/videos

FormZ free is a sort of fun copycat of Skteshup 2017 Make (free too)

A ten years video but...

Yet sufficient for make some bases for funny things in a second :)

I think it's funny that Form Z Free had so many cool features 10 years ago that we are just now starting to get in SketchUp.

@Hans, it's not appropriate to post Plasticity demo videos here.

You can also easily do what you show there in MOI as well, using the Line, Trim, Extrude, and Fillet commands like this:

@Pilou, this is also not the right place to post about SketchUp plug-ins.

Please post those in a SketchUp forum, not here in the MOI forum.
