Hi Michael,
Thanks for your reply.
I didn't know automated search functions are elaborate to implement. No problem.
My adjusted request:
Right now the MacOS MoI V4 beta doesn't allow keyboard shortcut columns to be resized in the Preferences. This results in unreadable entries like this:
In this case it's not visible which Numpad keys are assigned to the Boolean functions. As I use the keyboard shortcut list often as a reminder which keyboard shortcuts I've assigned to functions, I'd like to be able to resize the columns if that's not a hassle.
In case it's not difficult, I would also very much welcome an alphabetical sort option when clicking on a column header.
Many thanks,
Metin

Hi glmr,
re:

There's an updated shortcut key editor here for the v4 beta which should solve this issue of the shortcut keys not being fully displayed:

Hello Michael is there any plans on adding visualization on showing which way polys / nurbs are facing? This would help tremendouse before exporting out? Big time saver for me at least. Thanks
From: Michael Gibson
Hi threedfanatic, re: method to show backfacing, that is something I do want to add in for v4 once its been stabilized.

That is great news that will be a great help before exporting out. Thanks again for your support as always

And if there would be a checking if the key is already used..
In the moment it just overwrites the current shortkey...
But just a luxury problem... :-)
From: Michael Gibson
Hi Ralf, what do you think should happen if it the shortcut is already in use? I kind of dislike those "Did you really want to do that?" extra dialogs, would some kind of a warning message displayed right on the shortcut key dialog be enough?
- Michael
From: r2d3
As simple as possible! (luxury problem)
just a warning and not saving it...
From: Michael Gibson
Hi Ralf, so not saving it if you push the "OK" button sounds a little odd. I was thinking it could show if it's in use or not and if it was then you could choose another or push "Cancel" if you didn't want to overwrite it.

You are absolut right!

Hi Michael!
Some days ago I've seen that Istonia has greatly improved the internal visualization of his NVIL(Poly/Sds modeler)
with a simple but very useful feature : the support of MatCap materials.
I don't know what could be the effort needed to add this feature to the display engine of Moi V4 but if you could do it,
I think that in one shot you will be able to add a great feature that will greatly improve model visualization inside Moi especially useful for concept modelling,
without the need to use any kind of external renderer.
What do you think about it ?
Thanks a lot and have a nice day.
From: Michael Gibson
Hi Marco, I'm not really sure exactly what would be involved with that, it would require some studying and investigation to find out. I probably won't be able to devote even that investigation time for the v4 time period since there are many other more frequently requested things but it could be possible at some point in the future.

OK. I understand.
Thanks anyway.
Ciao!

Hi Michael
For my work (relatively small architecture) MoI is just about perfect and the addition of 64 bit brings it closer.
But ... my highest priority is dimensions and line types (and weights). A print dialog also (particularly to pdf) would really clinch it for me.
I know, you have heard it from me previously and I won't say it again but I really really hope that these will make it into MoI v4.
Keep up the great work.
cheers
eric

I am also hoping for native dimensioning despite max's excellent script. My work involves relatively small structures and dimensional display installations. These require very detailed notations with four decimal dimensions and need to display in and print from orthographic and 3D views. I have been using Max's script (thank you so much Max) and am just getting by with the help of Illustrator and Acrobat... but hope for a native MOI solution.

Hey Michael,
Just thought I'd share this 42 sec video for Fusion 360 showing how well modeling works with Ambient Occlusion. Just a reminder it would be nice to see something like this in V4 :-)

Fascinating and impressive design. Did you create this model, Chipp? And is it an imaginary sci-fi object?
From: Michael Gibson
Hi Chipp, it does look cool. I would like to work on that at some point here but for v4 it seems doubtful, there are just so many more fundamental things to address first before I can do the experimentation that would be needed to get a good looking ambient occlusion going. There isn't just one way to do it so it's not like flipping a button or something like that to add it.

Metin, no, not mine. It's hexaracts (Instagram).
Thanks Michael, I was just hoping... :-)
