Hi Moritz:
your Braun Combi is really cool
that ivory body best represent design lines of that years
I'll reply to your suggestion with another classic 60-70's
Brionvega Cubo ts-502
started like a portable AM-FM radio,it became a mastepiece of modern art !
you can find it at M.O.M.A-New York City and many others
Designed in 1962 by Marco Zanuso and Richard Sapper then started product in 1964 by Brionvega
Now the brand changed owners and still product with the same design and new hardware by a factory located in my country
http://www.brionvega.it/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=200&Itemid=85&lang=en
Here the original one
It's a simple shape to do in 3D (..cold be a compulsory exercise for all design-students and beginners..!)
i didn't use blueprints but just basic dimensions
main box:130mmx130mmx230mm then filleted G2 r=25
rest did "by eye"
when i did the grid for the speaker(left cube) of course i found little slowdowns displaying the wiew
screenshot shows some parts not displayed completely(but they are two solids, you can see on top right)
also seems like little perspective distorsion even if we are in ortho wiew (front)
i also changed mesh angle with same results
when i tried to fillet this part (0,5mm) Moi refused to do it so i switched to 123D
maybe because edge loop for filleting is on the boundaries of previous filleted edge of the box
also using a lower radius(0,1mm) avoiding then to touch that part give same result:no filleting
..anyway it turned out .."real"..
(render did with Randomcontrol products)
I think this radio deserve an entry on the Moi's gallery

M! You've made my weekend!
I'm already a fan of this particular radio, and your rendition is simply beautiful!
From: Mike K4ICY (MAJIKMIKE)
Oh, and Moritz! (I thought I replied to this, but I forgot). ;-)
Very beautiful detail on the razor!
My favorite detail in the neck transitional area that holds the blades. I would love to see the outlines.

Thanks guys !
Moritz please...just M (without Mr. )

WOW!!!
Thanks Moritz!
Did you Flow the perforated screen?
From: moritzbock (MORITZ)
Hi Mike,
no, I've done that with many cylinders, using
1. transform/array/curve,
2. transform/array/dir and than
3. the boolean-difference-function.
I have no idea how the flow-function exactly works. It's always a try&error game for me to build a perfect tire like you described on your homepage

By the way - a very helpful site ...

another classic 60's piece of design, close to Braun razor
Philips portable record player
This kind of player was very popular here in Europe,it plays just 7" vinyl (45rpm )
So i got a question for you Americans:what is the right name for this?
I mean, doin' a search on the net (typing on Google image search=portable record player) i found on English sites just this kind of players, but these are turntables that can be opened, with an arm,a case with a handle..portable
I didn't found a compact one,like the model i did:totally closed,just insert your vinyl 7" and automatically start play.
Here another famous model shows what i mean.
I got suspect that these was producted just in Europe? Please gimme some information
------
Simple shapes (loft-bool diff-sweep for the belt)
a simple render
yesterday when i started to build the image waiting for some inspiration i listened on you tube 70's Funk music
so it gave me inspiration and final result turned out -Funk-
it's also a little tribute to JB and Sly Stone (they created that kind of music ! )

That stuff is too far from me Pilou..too high..!
Background image i downloaded from Internet,i think is a wallpaper or something like that..
his orange-yellow rays helps to emphatize the 24mm fish-eye shot of my camera, focused on center:JB vinyl
Mike
follow this forum is also a way to learn some American
it's not so obvious that all the world could speak and understand 100% English-American
your answer gave me impulse to study the meaning so i switched on -Urban Dictionary- site
Being my image inspired by -70's Funk- i guess you mean this (second part of definition)
..and what about my previous question? What is right name for compact 7" vinyl portable player ?

From: Mike K4ICY (MAJIKMIKE)
You are correct!
But, perhaps "Groovy" would be a more 'record player' apt urban-slang term from the 60's and 70's. ;-)
>What is right name for compact 7" vinyl portable player ?
Probably just a 'Portable Turntable'. But I wouldn't know, I had them when I was a kid, but by the time I was a teen we had "boom boxes" to play cassette tapes.

Your last one Phillips in France was named a "mange disques" (an eating discs (?) )
From: Mauro (M-DYNAMICS)
Many thanks Mike !!
Pilou...you know we are cousins....
France=mange disques
Italia= mangiadischi
grazie !
