follow this forum is also a way to learn some American
it's not so obvious that all the world could speak and understand 100% English-American
your answer gave me impulse to study the meaning so i switched on -Urban Dictionary- site
Being my image inspired by -70's Funk- i guess you mean this (second part of definition)
..and what about my previous question? What is right name for compact 7" vinyl portable player ?

You are correct!
But, perhaps "Groovy" would be a more 'record player' apt urban-slang term from the 60's and 70's. ;-)
>What is right name for compact 7" vinyl portable player ?
Probably just a 'Portable Turntable'. But I wouldn't know, I had them when I was a kid, but by the time I was a teen we had "boom boxes" to play cassette tapes.

Your last one Phillips in France was named a "mange disques" (an eating discs (?) )

Nice modeling. Someone should try modeling a Toot-a-Loop radio. I still have my old one, but it no longer works.

I dont think there will be "slang" for it. When I was a kid we just called them "record players" so for me, it would just be a "portable record player". "Urban dictionary" is a relatively new concept in that "all things must have some stupid, American slang".
Although, that thing is pretty Righteous, man!
From: Mauro (M-DYNAMICS)
cool idea that Toot-a-Loop radio
could turned out a good tutorial Mike... ;-)
Thanks Burr:we use a particular name for it so i supposed you too got a different name instead of general-portable record player-
regarding use of Urban Dictionary, many times comes in help to understand the meaning of phrases used like slangs
you are right:often we link American with slang,so a kind of easygoing leaguage opposite to English, linked to Oxford an so..
if i listen to a rap song i can understand 10%,if i listen to Annie Lennox i can understand 70%
(that's why she is Scottish, they use to pronunce -R- in a strong way like us Latins,so i easier. That's my mother-leanguage english teacher told me..)
this is my level:beginner ,so everything is good to learn...

Spooky, Moritz....
We think it and you model it. :-o
I've taken one or two of those apart as a kid.... then again, taking radios apart was a strange youthful avocation.
