Hi Pilou!
Very cool and peculiar works!
I find some of them really amazing!
Congrats for your long career :)

The next version of the free MagicaCSG will have some export :)

A minor MagicaCSG update introduces PLY export!
https://ephtracy.github.io/index.html?page=magicacsg
From: Metin (METIN_SEVEN)
Tested the new PLY export option in MagicaCSG 0.0.1.
1. Imported in ZBrush,
2. welded points,
3. ZRemeshed,
4. subdivided,
5. projected Polypaint (vertex colors) from the source mesh.
It works perfectly...

Hi Metin,
thanks so much for posting your image! It reminds me of Groboto models
and hence I looked for old Groboto v3 installers on the Internet and was
able to register the Windows software, because I have an old (mac) license.
Awesome! :-)
Once time permits I will dive again into Groboto (and It's awesome mesher)
and will try to do some things then with ZBrush and MoI's subd2nurbs.
Best regards
Stefan

BTW. Here is a download link for license holders for Groboto v3.3,
which I posted long ago on the MODO forum, which I just found. :-)

Hi Stefan,
Glad my image inspired you to revisit Groboto. Wasn't Groboto the predecessor to Modo's Mesh Fusion? I've always been intrigued by Mesh Fusion, but it seems a bit complex and cumbersome to work with. I prefer the UX and straightforwardness of tools like MoI and MagicaCSG.

Mesh Fusion is evolving nicely! They're simplifying the UX but at this point it's still a WIP.
Attached is a simple combination of a Curve Radial Sweep & Radial Arrays (all procedural).

About MagicaCSG
Found the PLY (Menu Project / Show IO / Mesh/ Export) :)
Else PLY is enormous : the little "mecha" PLY (189 megas) gives a 290 Megas OBJ so i suppose must be decimated!
The original is 26 kb!!!
And I suppose the "denoiser" is the same than for MagicaVoxel ? Tested! Yes! Folder Plugin must be created!

Yeah, MagicaCSG is still in a very initial stage, but the PLY export has made it a very interesting tool for basemeshes.
I'm maintaining a big wishlist at my MagicaCSG Reddit:

MagicaCSG and the Denoiser (that you must install it's the same than Magicavoxel !)

So result in no time!

I really hope spline objects will soon be added to MagicaCSG. Until then, organic character modeling is a lot of work in MagicaCSG.
From: amur (STEFAN)
Hi Metin,
are you sure that a CSG modeler can use spline objects?
I always thought that they can only use primitives.

Stefan
From: Metin (METIN_SEVEN)
Hi Stefan,
SDF modelers can basically use any shape the developer adds to the engine. If you look at Clayxels and Mudbun...
https://andrea-intg.itch.io/clayxels
http://longbunnylabs.com/mudbun/
... those have splines, and in Cinema 4D's SDF implementation you can also use splines and any other shape that's available.
Regards!

Hi Metin,
thanks for the info.
I was confused by the term CSG in the name of the software.

Stefan
