I have a normal Slicer, i search an "optimisation slicer" !
I have seen that for filling containers' boat, truck, cloth triming, wood, filling package... must be existing for image :)

GIMP has also a Guillotine function, but i don't know if you can slice the same way
like Photoshop, which would allow you to do exactly what you are looking for.

the generic term is the "Bin Packing" for automatic optimisation of slicing...storage...

Here in 3D and in French but very visual for SketchUp ;) (English SubTitles possible)
