Hi,
okay well needless to say that this is not intended. Can you give me your system specs? Specifically I need to know your Processor and Graphics card. Anything else might help. Which langauge version of windows are you running?
Cheers,
Oliver

Sorry, I asked a question in the old thread. How do I open a 3DM file in the new beta? The option seems to have disappeared.
The only options now are PLY or OBJ. Also it won't open OBJ files exported from MoI.
So far, zero results. Not as good as the alpha.

Oops! sorry, wrong place I thought I was in the MoI forum ;)

Hi SteveMacc,
It seems that the trial wasn't activated properly. We are currently investigating this issue. However, this is not a big deal. Please have a look in the License Manager and send me your Installation-ID. Then I can give you an unlock code which will give you the 30 day trial. During evaluation you should be able to import all supported formats, including 3dm of course.
Best
Oliver

Well I am sorry :) We have our own forum at forum.numenus.de and I invite anyone to discuss details with us there. Somehow it seems this forum is more popular ;)

Hmmm, I've installed the trial - I ran it, and nothing happens :P
The process is there (104MB) but it's dead... lol
Oh well...

Hi NightCabbage.
Had the same problem first time I ran it. Tried a second time using "Run as Administrator" and it started.
Don't know if this will help you. However I have no option to load 3dm files, just obj and ply files.
Cheers
Mal

Hi Medi and NightCabbage,
it seems like you have some issue with the license system. Could you do me a favor and start the license manager external application (you can also start it from the start menu) and tell me what the license status is.
What OS are you using?
Please feel free to send me your Installation-ID (
info@numenus.de) and I will send you back an unlock key which unlocks the trial. Then you can use 3dm import.
Does anyone else reading this thread having that problem? Then please help us figuring out the issue by telling us which OS you are using. I assume we have a problem with some flavours of windows, where the service does not start correctly or something.
best regards,
Oliver

Ok I got it working. You were right, just needed to run it again and it worked...
Also I can import .3dm files (just through the import function).
However, I don't think I understand... how can you apply materials to objects?
-EDIT-
lol, for some reason I didn't notice the "Library" button at the top.
Also, OS = WinXp SP3.
From: Numenus
Thanks for the info. In the meanwhile I could reproduce the error (in a VM) that RenderGin will not start on the very first start on a machine... I still wonder what that could be, though I have or licensing system under suspicion.
Please keep me posted about your expiriences/ideas how to impreove/extend. You can also send us a mail directly (
info@numenus.de)
Best,
Oliver

I have sent you the installation ID. Running win 7 64 bit.

I've got the unlock code - thanks.
First impressions are that it is quite slow opening Nurbs files from MoI. It goes fast at first then crawls along from about 80% - is this where it's calculating the trim surfaces?
Also, all solids seem to broken down into individual surfaces, making it hard to find and texture parts of a model.
The texture library seems to cause a high number of crashes.
From: Numenus
Hi,
we are using the OpenNURBS library for importing and nearly 95% of the computation time is spent in the library rather than in our code - so there is not so much we can do about the import speed. However, if MoI is using OPenNURBS as well and is faster in opening, then we might be doing something redundant and there is a chance it gets faster in the future :)
How exactly can you crash the library? Is there a way to reproduce it?
From: SteveMacc (STEVEH)
Yes, by clicking more than once in the materials library.
