Hi Danny,
It's looking to me like we might end up with at least some of the stuff that was/is available in Hypershot/Keyshot.
Ralf, as you have Hypershot & Simlab, I'd love to know what features the two 'Shots' have that Simlab Composer currently doesn't. I wonder what other goodies are in store.
Thanks also for letting us know about Composer. I'm glad I didn't miss out on this bargain.

It is the Luxion render engine so we might see more stuff being implemented that's in HS/KS, I can't see why not, the latest update features are just the beginning, I think.
.......and yes, thanks again Ralf for sharing this find.
Cheers

Hi Ralf,
I'm Filippo and I'm new here in the forum. Perhaps you can help me.
I try to use simlab composer demo, but it doesn't make the render because it's a demo version.
I don't find the way in order to test the program, to see the result of a my a project without buy it.
I have seen that is possibile to recive a demo licence with 10 save. I try to make it through the license dialog inside the help menĂ¹ of the program. But nothing is happened.
How can I do it?
I'm very interested to Simlab composer and I'll be afraid to lose the current offert.
Thank Filippo.

Good begin!
5 min of work (first time I use it and I've never made renders with other software) and all in default.

Although I like the ease of use and render quality of Simlab Composer (I tried the demo a month or so back), I was not that favorably impressed with its render speed compared to the old HyperShot demo I tried last year, or even to more full-fledged renderers like in modo or Lightwave. Would anyone care to comment on their experience with Simlab Composer as far as render times go?
I'm still toying with the idea of buying a copy before the current offer ends at the end of the month, but right now the render time issue has me leaning more towards putting that money to some other use (like a down payment on an Adobe CS5 upgrade ;-) ...

Dave,
I think it's the same render engine, but without the real time ray tracer. So it's like the old style "click and wait for progressive render".
Maybe key/hypershot just seem faster because they present you with something super fast, although it's not done cooking yet???

Hi to all,
Free studio lighting HDR images.
I have found this link on the 3d-coat forum:

I would add this: 12 x HDRI... some with LDR background plates

Hi Paolo,
can you help me to understand how I can use these immage?
I begin now to do some rendering.
I apply the immage to an external object and it's reflected in my scene or I use it like a refection map (global image) during the rendering?

From: Mark Brown (MABROWN)
Hi FiL,
You add your HDRI as an "environment image" in the render settings. By default, Simlab Composer is probably already using the "Default.exr" image. You can replace whatever image Composer is using with another HDR image, such as the ones linked to. For Composer to use these HDRI's you need to ensure that the "environment image" check box is selected. Also, the HDR image can be used as a visible "back plate" for your render by selecting "back plate - from environment".
It might be worth you signing up to the Simlab forum. The support guys on there are very helpful.

I was really considering buying this for the 3D PDF for customer previews. But since Autodesk released the free FBX viewer, I really dont need too.
From: Grendel
TwinSnakes - It's not that the autodesk viewer is free(most viewers are) it's that everyone already has Adobe Reader on their systems. For companies large enough to have an IT group it can be a PITA to install anything if you don't have administrator rights on your machine.
From: Michael Gibson
Hi TwinSnakes, is there a brand new FBX viewer out now? Or are you talking about the one that is a plug-in for Apple's QuickTime?
