The boolean for that case should work, but it will produce your shape as an internal cavity inside the block - that does not produce the mold for you yet but you are partway there.

Draw in an additional cutting line in the Top view and then boolean the piece with the cavity into 2 halves to make your mold pieces. Or you can also just include the dividing line as a cutting object in the first boolean as well, that should work also.

Hi Derek, an example model is attached here.

So note that in addition to the piece which will be the cavity I have also drawn a dividing line there. When you do the boolean difference, select both your part and the line as cutting objects to make the result shown in the right.

I'm not sure exactly where you want it to be cut, but position the line relative to your shape accordingly. If you need to have pieces that stick out past the dividing line then you may want to union back together some pieces after the cut.

Thank you very much, Michael!!! I've worked on this project for a couple of days and thought my efforts were in vain.
But you showed me it works and again I feel MOI is the easiest but very powerful graphic tool I've ever seen.

By the way, when does V2 is coming out to the market? I'm eagerly waiting for that.

I don't have an exact date set yet, but not much longer... The software is in the final stages now and once that is complete I will need to update the documentation before the full release will be ready.
