Is there a way to export image planes to fbx or obj?

Hi bisenberger,

Nope... They're meant to be used as tracing or image reference aids while working inside of MoI, not as geometry to be exported to a mesh file.
What are you trying to do with them that would be helped by exporting them to a mesh format?

Hi Michael,
I have a bunch of plans and profiles at different scales, but they have a scale bar. I want to use them as reference in 3ds max 9. MoI's ability to draw images on different planes along with the align tool is a lot quicker than setting them up in max.

Hi bisenberger, for now you're going to have to re-draw them in Max...
Right now the image's plane is not set up to be accessible from script. If I add that in for the next beta it might then be possible to set this up by having a script that would create a regular Plane surface object for every image.
If you had a quad polygon for each image plane in Max, would that help do what you want?

Hi Michael,
A quad polygon textured with the image would be great.

Hi Bill,

None of MoI's polygon exports do textures currently, so the texturing part is not going to be feasible for MoI v2.
But hopefully just assigning the texture inside Max should be pretty easy if you have the quad in its proper position.
It's the positioning that you are having trouble with in Max right, not just the assignment of a texture?

Hi Michael,
Yes, the positioning and scaling of image planes is a tedious process in max.
Assigning images for textures is easier. They can be dragged and dropped onto an object using the asset browser in max.
Thanks,
