Hi moi3D enthousiasts :) .

i tried to use the obj2dmwireframe.exe program on the chassis_1.obj file and it failed.

i have sucessfullly used this program in the past but i don't understand why it does not work on this specific obj file.

does anyone knows if there are some guidelines to be sure that the conversion works ?

i used another program to make the conversion but i am still posting this question here. just in case someone has an easy fix.

Hi hadri1, it's because there aren't any polygon faces in this .obj file, it only contains line elements.

Although there are a variety of different elements listed in the .obj file spec most programs only support polygon faces. That includes obj2dmwireframe.

If you have the original source of this, does it display as a shaded object there?

i asked Grok to give me a dxf from the obj file which gave me this.

Free Krea gives that from your image! You will obtain an OBJ FILe ! https://www.krea.ai/3d
You can ask model + texture but as I don't know what do you want make i just keep structure...

Not sure that is the best thing... in general redraw all on model can be more efficient! :)

As it's not specially quadrangles you must reload it inside the free Instant Mesh : https://github.com/wjakob/instant-meshes

Direct results with any regulates... :)

before subdivision Import obj BY Max Smirnov Script!

Native function SubDive : from a file : subdivision integrated!

Thank you for your answers.
Great idea BurrMan, i would have never tried AI on this task.

Thanks french Pilou but for this project i would rather stay in the nurbs format to get a step file onto wich i could run stress analysis.

It helps me test several concepts before using more specialized software to make the blueprints for the actual build.

Have a great day.

You have also this cool free one! https://people.tamu.edu/~ergun/research/topology/index.html

Pure breeze modeling! :) https://moiscript.weebly.com/topmod.html

And you will obtain structure like you want! :)

Export as OBJ then Moi3D (Max or Native SubDive)
