Hello Michael,
in your other "favorite" modeling-tool you can press "p" to make a pipe from a selectet curve. Iam convinced this would be also possible with a script in moi.
If i select a curve an run the script. it would be nice to get a promt in the right corner to enter a diameter or use the mouse to set the size (like the most MOI-tools).
Maybe also a button so seleect a custom profile. But then i can also use the sweep command. nevermind...
I had the case where i had to model a lot of wires for a metal Basket. Creating profiles on the curves is time consuming. Compared to use a pipe-script.
I would do it by myself. but i dont know how to start. Do you have some tutorials for scripting in MOI?
Can you point me in the right direction.

Not sure it does all the requested feature tho ?
(one nice addition would be to have a extend distance option to create pipe longer than the input curves on both side, it can help to trim surface later for manual filleting / blending)

Hi BlackBird,
re:

For sweep you don't have to put the profile on each rail, if you position the profile a little bit away from the rail (outside of the rail's bounding box) it will use auto place mode:

There was also the "Wires" script from Max, with an updated version named Wires2 from mkdm
The wires 2 script allows picking a "Profile curve" and includes the "Extend" function you describe
However, it DOESNT do what pipes does, by using a PATH. Only tangent connection to 2 pick points
If somebody could "COMBINE" these 2 scripts, it would do exactly what is requested.
I am not capable of that. Always tried to avoid asking Michael to do extra work

Oh... i didn't know that... i thought i have to place the profile exactly on the rail...

haha its easy i dont know it work like that :D

Thanks Burr, I will check if AI can be useful for once and merge the feature !
