Oh and for that line above, the #3 - you don't actually need to make it the line the exact same length as the arc as long as you don't enable the "Stretch" mode in the flow options.

When Stretch is off it will match "distance traveled along base curve" to the same distance traveled along the target curve, automatically extending if needed.

When Stretch is on it will match "percentage traveled along base curve" to the same percentage traveled along the target curve.

Hi 4rw1n,

Sorry no none that I am aware of.

You might check out FreeCAD which has a sheet metal module, or Pepakura Designer.

According to their web site here:
https://autodessys.com/formz_comparison/

It says that "Unfold model with tabs and labels" (under Product Design) is in the pro version, not in the free version.

Also I seem to remember it's not really for sheet metal, it's for papercraft type stuff like Pepakura Designer.

EDIT:
https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/assets.autodessys.com/manuals/formz10/formZ_Pro/responsive_html/10146_Unfold.html

Looks like it can do also NURBS unfolded as NURBS when there are developable surfaces. So that might work ok (in pro version) for sheet metal models too. For polygon mesh objects it does Pepakura Designer type stuff with making tabs.

Hi 4rw1n,

please find attached "unfolded" file, where you can find unfold part.

It has been used flow command inside MoI by technique described here:

Flow as Unfold tool !

Hope this helps.

Hi Pilou, is that the current Form-Z free version that you are running there?

Or are you running the bonzai3d app which I think has been discontinued?

@Pilou,

re:

No it doesn't look like the right kind of result. It looks like that's the polygon model unfolder for papercrafting, not the NURBS unfolder.

No it's the FormZfree that I have downloaded some few month ago maybe not latest version...
Latest is 10.1.5 (B27E) against mine 9.1.0 (Build A 399) ! :)

UI is falsely "friendly" ;) It's for that i did not yet made a page about it! :)
Multiple pannels to regulate... but some cool tools integrated... stairs, roof, terrain ... like SketchUp but without plugins!

Yep...
Last Free version installed! :) 10 . 1.5 Build B27E Surely some bugs treated...

It's an "Ascis" Kernel product ...

It's the same in the free! But of course not that you want! :)

Yes! :)

Else in general More Subdive than Nurbs.... better than SketchUp without Plugins
Not so bad for the price! ;)

Can be a cool speed subdive protototyping for some things...
Formz free (we can make the same inside Moi with the kit of Subdivision by
Max Smirnov)

Vizcom free

Banana free... so chic ! :)
